Abstract

This article highlights the problem of radiological diagnosis of pneumonia in patients with immunodeficiency. The most common causative agents of pneumonia in patients with immunodeficiency are pneumocystis carinii, cytomegalovirus and other viruses (herpes simplex, chickenpox, measles, adenovirus), as well as Legionella pneumophila. Pneumocystis pneumonia is most often detected in people with congenital or acquired immunodeficiency: with HIV infection it develops in 65% of cases, and in 25–40% of cases it can lead to death.
