Abstract

Target. To assess the psychoemotional state of elderly patients with multivessel coronary artery disease receiving various treatment options (invasive and medical)
Materials and methods. A study was performed on 58 patients over 65 years old with lesions of the left main artery in combination with lesions of two or more coronary arteries. All patients received standard basic therapy. According to the chosen treatment strategy, patients were divided into 3 groups: those who underwent coronary artery stenting, those who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting, and those who received only drug therapy. The assessment of the psychological state of patients was carried out using conversation-interviews using the Spielberger-Hanin and Tsung scales.
Results. The ratio of the degree of observed situational anxiety and depression did not differ significantly between groups. However, the degree of personal anxiety differs significantly in different groups. The largest percentage of patients with high personal anxiety was recorded in the CABG group; in the PCI group, average personal anxiety prevailed. The remaining number of patients with low personal anxiety is distributed relatively evenly between the groups.
Conclusion. The level of situational anxiety in all three groups does not differ significantly, therefore, it is the disease itself that matters, and not the intervention (treatment method). Personal anxiety is more pronounced in the group of patients who underwent coronary bypass surgery, which is probably associated with vascular pathology of the brain, which is observed significantly more often in this group.
